Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den betting is not permitted. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are apparently needed to cross, there are means around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel building that contains a number of luxuries accompanying the casino, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
