Cambodia Gambling Halls

[ English ]

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, features 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel building that highlights a number of amenities aside from the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
